For the 'right price' I reckon we would, although maybe a manager of Pellegrini's stature could prevent it.

Its not really a moot point though, is it?

He brother is his agent (as well as others) and his brother was definitely talking to Inter. Its pretty obvious in the transfer window that he would be speaking about transfers. We also had one of their players on loan last season who did ok.

I should imagine Arnie came up in conversation - dont you?

Re: We're not looking to offload Arnautovic are we?
Nobody’s made an offer so it’s a moot point.

It reminds me a bit of the talk of Hartson going to Man Utd. Usually one good season or half a season isn’t enough to tempt a big club. It could be just a flash in the pan, especially at 29.

If you were 29 and came to play for us and had a fantastic half season and were suddenly linked to clubs playing CL football what would you do?

Re: We're not looking to offload Arnautovic are we?

can't imagine we'd be selling unless he is desperate to go. historically it never goes well selling your best player and trying to re-invest in 3 or 4 others.

happened with Bale and then again with Lukaku.

You could argue the same with Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Dimitri Payet...

Admittedly under different circumstances and we probably had to sell but still, we're not exactly great at the "re-investing" bit are we?

unless he really wants to leave I think not.

I don't even think these owners would sell for 50m which would be the minimum I'd ask for.

Keep him - put a creative midfield behind him and he's a 25 goals a season player

I thought this had some legs as they offered Mario plus cash in exchange. I read somewhere that it was something silly like 30/40m plus Mario (I know, i dont believe that amount) but Mario plus cash for a 29 year old that has had half a good season, has to be looked at.

Arnie is going nowhere!
Posted by Sean Whetstone on June 21, 2018 in News, Whispers

Club insiders are bemused at the latest report involving the Hammer of the Year Marko Arnautovic.

A club insider told Claret and Hugh: ‘Marko is going nowhere‘ adding: ‘He is not for sale!‘

Fresh stories emerged in Italy overnight after his brother was photographed in Milan with the Italian media claiming the agent was meeting Inter Milan bosses.

However, insiders have repeated the same message when Arnauovic was linked with Manchester United by saying: ‘There have been zero approaches, no bids and no enquires and even if there are were they will be told he is not for sale!’

Inter Milan faced UEFA officials in Switzerland this Tuesday over breaching European FFP rules so the suggestion they are about to make a massive bid for Arnie seems quite far-fetched. I am sure it won’t be the last time that the Hammer of the year is the subject of transfer speculation.

Re: We're not looking to offload Arnautovic are we?
It has nothing to do with the club.

If a player thinks they are good enough to be playing CL football their agent will sort them a move.

He does and so we will see a move forced.

Sign the likes of Soldado then. I'll look forward to that.

Re: We're not looking to offload Arnautovic are we?
Hope not but if he has a Gareth Bale type season and we do get big money offer next year (I think that’s more likely than this year) then as moorethan said we take it and reinvest and do so wisely, much like spuds did.

Re: We're not looking to offload Arnautovic are we?
This was from yesterday and rubbished early today. His brother has other clients.

Symbolically you need to keep your best performing players, absolutely silly money aside.

Re: We're not looking to offload Arnautovic are we?
If big money comes in for him (we’re talking £60-£80 million) then when you take all the emotion out of it, it’s a good move.

He’s 29, a maverick and a fanstatsic player on his day.

That said he’s a moody fucker and there’s no doubt in my mind the next strop or downing of tools is only round the corner.

I’d be disappointed to see him go, the trick to this game is to sell when the price is high then re-invest in young up and coming talent to take you forward then repeat.

Re: We're not looking to offload Arnautovic are we?
Inter have just signed an attacking midfielder from Roma and are now close to their FFP limit. No way will they pay 50 million and give Arnie close to 100k a week.

The reason Arnies brother was in Milan was because he is an agent for another player. The Italian press have barely picked up on this story.

I think the most likely scenario of him leaving would be if Martial leaves Man Utd and Mourinho wants a replacement. Still think he will be at West Ham come the start of the season.

Re: We're not looking to offload Arnautovic are we?
I don't think any of us are but I bet dildo one can't wait to 'play hardball' over flogging him.

There is an argument for selling him given his age but it would be seriously disappointing to see him go.

Re: We're not looking to offload Arnautovic are we?
i think it's up to Sir MP ....

surely he's got a big part to play ,
As he gets older they will give him less of the
pitch to cover , i think he has a few good years left .
